The Cabbage Merchant's legacy continues past Avatar: The Last Airbender, as the Cabbage Merchant's son (also voiced by Sie) appears in The Legend of Korra as the CEO of Cabbage Corp. Since the series aired, the character has become a favorite part of the show’s extensive list of recurring characters. This would often provoke what became the character’s iconic catchphrase “my cabbages!” This ranges from having his cabbages destroyed while trying to enter Omashu, having his cart destroyed by Aang and his friends riding the Omashu delivery system, and even having his cart destroyed while waiting for the ferry to Ba Sing Se. In the gag, the main characters would frequently accidentally destroy his cart full of cabbages. The Cabbage Merchant was a poor and misfortuned vendor from Earth kingdom who would often find himself, and his cabbages, in the wrong place at the wrong time. In the original animated series, the Cabbage Merchant was a running gag that appeared several times across the first two seasons.
